Gold Medal Plates Regionals

An eager crew recently headed to Victoria for a quick trip to support Chef Jefferson Alvarez as he was competing for the Gold Medal Plate Regional Awards. For the awards, Chef Alvarez created Secrets of The Sunshine Coast on beautiful marble: white sturgeon, birchwood glaze, wild foraged mushrooms, scoby paired witj. The BX Press Prospector, Traditional Dry Cider from Vernon BC. It was a very special dish that is 23 years in the making, forged together with beautiful technique, culture and heart—in true representation of Latin America. 

And although the results were not as hoped, the sheer support of our community meant so very much, and we would like to thank all who shared in this event alongside. We warmly congratulate Jesse McLeery of Pilgrimme restaurant for his winning dish: Hay-baked and smoked rutabaga, onion, pear, sourdough paired with Sea Star Estate Farm & Vineyards 2015 Blanc de Noir from Pender Island.
